By carefully adjusting the water pressure for the bars' rough tempered marten surface and pearlitic core, the strength of the bars is kept at its maximum level, along with its ductility and toughness. TMT bars are frequently employed in general-purpose concrete reinforcing constructions, bridges and flyovers, dams, thermal and hydroelectric power plants, industrial structures, high-rise buildings, and subterranean platforms in rapid transit and metro rail systems. TMT Bars are thermomechanically treated using the greatest technology available today to achieve high yield strength. After rolling out of the last mill stand, the hot bars are quickly quenched using a sequence of water jets. The bars are chilled, enabling the equilibration of core and surface temperatures. Slow cooling causes the bar core to transform into a ferrlite-pearlite aggregate.
